Overview
The dominant party in Anambra State and a significant force in the South-East. APGA is uniquely associated with Igbo political identity and has governed Anambra continuously since 2006.
History
Founded in 2002, APGA gained national attention when it won the Anambra governorship in 2006 under Peter Obi. The party has held Anambra ever since, making it the longest-running non-PDP/APC state government. Charles Soludo, former CBN Governor, is its current Anambra governor. APGA occasionally wins seats outside Anambra but remains primarily a South-East regional party.
