Overview
A minor party that briefly became a home for a 2025-2026 opposition coalition before Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso left for NDC in May 2026. It has since returned to being a smaller standalone platform with limited national reach.
History
Founded in 2006, ADC has sporadically won local and state-level seats without a national breakthrough. Its most serious shot at renewed relevance came when it hosted opposition coalition talks involving Obi and Kwankwaso, but the arrangement collapsed in May 2026 over zoning and candidacy disputes.

Unlikely to run
After the collapse of the coalition experiment, ADC looks more like a spoiler or bargaining platform than a top-tier challenger in 2027.
